00:00:13.651 --> 00:00:19.466
Let me help you embrace each day with faith and wisdom, ready to feel inspired.
00:00:19.466 --> 00:00:21.065
Let's get started.
00:00:21.065 --> 00:00:25.846
Today is Day 10,.
00:00:25.846 --> 00:00:27.510
Nothing New.
00:00:27.510 --> 00:00:34.253
We'll be reading from Ecclesiastes 1, verse 10, from the New Living Translation.
00:00:34.253 --> 00:00:39.106
Is there anything of which one can say?
00:00:39.106 --> 00:00:42.052
Look, this is something new.
00:00:44.621 --> 00:00:48.311
A young man filled with with distress spoke about his marriage.
00:00:48.311 --> 00:00:50.767
Nothing ever changes.
00:00:50.767 --> 00:00:53.286
Every day it's the same mess.
00:00:53.286 --> 00:00:55.546
We keep having the same fight.
00:00:55.546 --> 00:00:59.649
His voice was full of hopelessness and despair.
00:00:59.649 --> 00:01:02.209
Have you ever felt like that?
00:01:03.560 --> 00:01:15.632
Whether it's a struggling marriage, a dead-end job, a friendship that's fallen apart another discouraging situation, sin affects every area of our lives.
00:01:15.632 --> 00:01:23.513
Temptation may seem attractive at first, but sin soon traps us in cycles of disappointment and pain.
00:01:23.513 --> 00:01:28.590
The book of Ecclesiastes captures the brokenness of human life.
00:01:28.590 --> 00:01:38.629
Even when things seem to be going well, every day brings reminders of the world's brokenness, whether it's through sickness or conflict or war.
00:01:38.629 --> 00:01:46.450
No matter how hard we try to create a better future, it seems like all our efforts just fall short.
00:01:46.450 --> 00:01:52.111
The writer of Ecclesiastes describes this as a vicious cycle of meaningless.
00:01:52.111 --> 00:01:58.171
But in recognizing this, we also begin to discover where true hope and change come from.
00:01:59.200 --> 00:02:14.532
The writer of Ecclesiastes helps us see that only a new word from God can break the cycle of sin and offer something truly new See John 1, verses 1-5 and verse 14.
00:02:14.532 --> 00:02:23.853
By admitting the hopelessness of our own efforts, we open ourselves to the gracious gift of God, which alone can transform our lives.
00:02:23.853 --> 00:02:28.661
Heavenly Father, we are stuck without you.
00:02:28.661 --> 00:02:33.349
Every day brings new evidence that nothing in us really changes.
00:02:33.349 --> 00:02:36.502
We're a broken people in a broken world.
00:02:36.502 --> 00:02:42.639
Help us, father, change us, for Jesus' sake, amen.
00:02:42.639 --> 00:02:43.703
For Jesus' sake, amen.
