Today is Day 105, centurion's Confession from the Gospel of Mark, chapter 15, verses 33 through 39, from the New Living Translation.

Some of the bystanders misunderstood and thought he was calling for the prophet Elijah.

One of them ran filled a sponge with sour wine, holding it up to him on a reed stick so he could drink.

When the Roman officer who stood facing him saw how he died, he exclaimed this man truly was the Son of God.

The centurion's words at Jesus' death are incredibly powerful and surprising.

As a Roman soldier, his loyalty was supposed to be to Caesar, whom he worshipped as a god.

Now, we don't know what led him to this realization.

Perhaps it was the darkness covering the land or the earthquake that shook the earth, or simply the way Jesus faced death, but what we do know is that God's Spirit moved him to this confession.

There's going to be a day when everyone's going to see and acknowledge Jesus as Lord, some joyfully and some with regret, but right now, god gives us the opportunity to recognize and believe in Jesus willingly and gladly.
