Day 107 Who Are You Looking For? | Mark 16:1-8

Day 107 Who Are You Looking For? | Mark 16:1-8

Send us a text

The empty tomb stands as history's greatest surprise. In this meditation on Mark 16:1-8, we journey alongside Mary Magdalene and her companions as they approach Jesus' burial place on that first Easter morning. Their hearts heavy with grief, minds preoccupied with practical concerns about moving the massive stone—they represent all of us who face seemingly insurmountable obstacles.

What unfolds at dawn transforms everything. The stone already rolled away. The tomb empty. A messenger in white delivering world-changing news: "He isn't here. He is risen from the dead." Their bewilderment and trembling response captures the overwhelming nature of this divine reversal—where expected endings become beginnings and apparent defeat reveals itself as victory.

This resurrection account speaks directly to our modern struggles. How often do we approach life expecting difficulties, preparing ourselves for disappointment, and focusing on barriers we believe block our path? The women's experience reminds us that sometimes the very obstacles we most fear have already been addressed by divine intervention. Christ's resurrection power continues to roll away stones in our lives, creating passages where we saw only dead ends.

Today, whatever challenge you're facing, remember the profound truth of Easter morning: the stone is already rolled away, Christ is alive, and he goes ahead of you into every situation. The same power that conquered death itself stands ready to transform your circumstances. Will you, like those first witnesses, allow the reality of resurrection to change how you face each new day?

Join me as I dive into God's Word to find clarity and strength for life's challenges.

00:00:13.653 --> 00:00:19.484
Let me help you embrace each day with faith and wisdom, ready to feel inspired.

00:00:19.484 --> 00:00:21.070
Let's get started.

00:00:21.070 --> 00:00:24.664
Today is Day 107.

00:00:24.664 --> 00:00:26.847
Who are you looking for?

00:00:26.847 --> 00:00:30.833
From the Gospel of Mark, chapter 16, verses 1 through 8.

00:00:36.674 --> 00:00:45.093
From the New Living Translation, saturday evening, when the Sabbath ended, mary Magdalene, married the mother of James and Salome, went out and purchased burial spices so they could anoint Jesus' body.

00:00:45.093 --> 00:00:49.890
Very early on Sunday morning, just at sunrise, they went to the tomb.

00:00:49.890 --> 00:00:56.469
On the way, they were asking each other who will roll away the stone for us from the entrance to the tomb.

00:00:56.469 --> 00:01:02.966
But as they arrived, they looked up and saw that the stone, which was very large, had already been rolled aside.

00:01:02.966 --> 00:01:08.662
When they entered the tomb, they saw a young man clothed in a white robe sitting on the right side.

00:01:08.662 --> 00:01:12.728
The women were shocked, but the angel said Don't be alarmed.

00:01:12.728 --> 00:01:16.409
You are looking for Jesus of Nazareth, who was crucified.

00:01:16.409 --> 00:01:18.003
He isn't here.

00:01:18.003 --> 00:01:20.144
He is risen from the dead.

00:01:20.144 --> 00:01:22.727
Look, this is where they laid his body.

00:01:22.727 --> 00:01:28.691
Now go tell his disciples, including Peter, that Jesus is going ahead of you to Galilee.

00:01:28.691 --> 00:01:32.290
You will see him there, just as he told you before he died.

00:01:33.521 --> 00:01:39.170
The women fled from the tomb, trembling and bewildered, and they said nothing to anyone because they were frightened.

00:01:39.170 --> 00:01:47.850
Now, when the women went to the tomb on that early Sunday morning, they expected to find death, sorrow and an ending.

00:01:47.850 --> 00:01:56.674
They prepared themselves to face the unpleasant task of caring for the body of Jesus, unsure even if they'd be able to move the stone.

00:01:56.674 --> 00:02:02.640
But instead, just as the sun rose over the horizon, something amazing had already happened.

00:02:02.640 --> 00:02:04.831
A new day had begun.

00:02:04.831 --> 00:02:09.806
Not just another morning, but the dawn of a completely new age.

00:02:09.806 --> 00:02:14.394
Jesus, who had been crucified and buried, had risen.

00:02:14.394 --> 00:02:19.931
Mark's gospel beautifully captures the wonder and shock of this moment.

00:02:19.931 --> 00:02:22.263
The women didn't find a corpse.

00:02:22.263 --> 00:02:27.454
Instead, they found an angel in dazzling white, announcing that Jesus was alive.

00:02:27.454 --> 00:02:29.407
No wonder they felt overwhelmed.

00:02:30.280 --> 00:02:32.307
Now, in many ways, we're a lot like these women.

00:02:32.307 --> 00:02:38.012
We approach life expecting difficulties and sadness or barriers too big to move.

00:02:38.012 --> 00:02:48.275
But just like them, we discover instead the power of a risen Savior who's overcome every obstacle, even death itself.

00:02:48.275 --> 00:02:57.705
Today, I want you to open your heart to the incredible truth of the resurrection, no matter what challenges you're facing.

00:02:57.705 --> 00:03:01.652
Remember the stone is already rolled away.

00:03:01.652 --> 00:03:05.485
Christ is alive and he goes ahead of you.

00:03:05.485 --> 00:03:07.568
Pray with me.

00:03:07.568 --> 00:03:14.185
Risen Lord, thank you for conquering death and filling our lives with hope.

00:03:14.185 --> 00:03:21.209
Help us to embrace the power and joy of your resurrection today and every day, amen.

00:03:21.209 --> 00:03:40.211
Well, that's all for today, but I'll be back tomorrow with more of God's Word.

00:03:40.211 --> 00:03:43.153
Amen, and consider becoming a community member.
