Day 113 Resurrections Children | Luke 20:27-38

Day 113 Resurrections Children | Luke 20:27-38

Send us a text

Family connections define much of our identity and experience in this world. But what happens to these relationships after death? The Sadducees thought they had the perfect trap when they approached Jesus with a convoluted scenario about seven brothers who all married the same woman.

Rather than getting caught in their hypothetical family drama, Jesus reveals something profound about resurrection life. Marriage, He explains, belongs to our earthly existence. In the resurrection, we undergo a fundamental transformation—becoming "children of God and children of the resurrection" who "will never die again." This isn't a downgrading of our earthly relationships but an elevation into something more profound and eternal.

Jesus' teaching challenges us to adopt a resurrection-shaped perspective on family today. Our spiritual connections through Christ create a family bond that transcends blood relations, marital status, or genealogical heritage. This expanded view of family includes people we might never have considered as relatives before—fellow believers who become brothers and sisters in Christ. When we embrace this perspective, we begin living out resurrection values here and now, welcoming others into God's family with open arms and loving hearts.

How might your relationships change today if you viewed everyone through the lens of God's eternal family? Who can you welcome as part of your resurrection family? Join us as we explore what it means to live as children of God and children of the resurrection—both now and in the age to come.

Join me as I dive into God's Word to find clarity and strength for life's challenges.

00:00:13.651 --> 00:00:19.466
Let me help you embrace each day with faith and wisdom, ready to feel inspired.

00:00:19.466 --> 00:00:21.065
Let's get started.

00:00:21.065 --> 00:00:32.375
Today is Day 113, resurrection's Children from the Gospel of Luke, chapter 20, verses 27 through 38.

00:00:34.140 --> 00:00:40.613
Then Jesus was approached by some Sadducees, religious leaders who say there is no resurrection from the dead.

00:00:40.613 --> 00:00:47.820
They posed this question from the dead.

00:00:47.820 --> 00:00:48.402
They posed this question.

00:00:48.402 --> 00:00:53.421
Teacher Moses gave us a law that if a man dies leaving a wife but no children, his brother should marry the widow and have a child who will carry on the brother's name.

00:00:53.421 --> 00:00:56.192
Well, suppose there were seven brothers.

00:00:56.192 --> 00:00:59.401
The oldest one married and then died without children.

00:00:59.401 --> 00:01:02.825
So the second brother married the widow, but he also died.

00:01:02.825 --> 00:01:04.808
Then the third brother married her.

00:01:04.808 --> 00:01:08.552
This continued with all seven of them who died without children.

00:01:08.552 --> 00:01:10.834
Finally, the woman also died.

00:01:10.834 --> 00:01:18.641
So tell us whose wife will she be in the resurrection?

00:01:18.641 --> 00:01:20.022
For all seven were married to her.

00:01:20.022 --> 00:01:30.868
Jesus replied Marriage is for people here on earth, but in the age to come, those worthy of being raised from the dead will neither marry nor will be given in marriage and they will never die again.

00:01:30.868 --> 00:01:33.691
In this respect, they will be like angels.

00:01:33.691 --> 00:01:37.153
They are children of God and children of the resurrection.

00:01:37.153 --> 00:01:40.415
But now as to whether the dead will be raised?

00:01:40.415 --> 00:01:47.162
Even Moses proved this when he wrote about the burning bush Long after Abraham, isaac and Jacob had died.

00:01:47.162 --> 00:01:51.912
He referred to the Lord as the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob.

00:01:51.912 --> 00:01:57.191
So he is the God of the living, not the dead, for they are all alive to him.

00:01:59.040 --> 00:02:07.003
Tracing family histories has become a popular hobby these days, thanks to Ancestrycom and other websites filled with amazing records.

00:02:07.003 --> 00:02:16.206
I was surprised and delighted to discover that my own family line has connections to famous people In today's scripture.

00:02:16.206 --> 00:02:22.768
Some religious leaders tried to trap Jesus with a complicated scenario about family connections after the resurrection.

00:02:22.768 --> 00:02:30.050
Instead of being stumped by their tricky question, jesus used it to teach something powerful about eternal life.

00:02:30.050 --> 00:02:35.512
Jesus explained that the resurrection isn't about sorting out who belongs to whom.

00:02:35.512 --> 00:02:40.771
Instead, it introduces an entirely new kind of family, a spiritual one.

00:02:40.771 --> 00:02:50.828
No matter our earthly status single, married, widowed, childless, male or female we all become equal members of God's family.

00:02:50.828 --> 00:02:53.813
We become children of the resurrection.

00:02:54.979 --> 00:02:58.388
Now, this doesn't diminish or erase our earthly relationships.

00:02:58.388 --> 00:03:00.573
It enriches and expands them.

00:03:00.573 --> 00:03:04.792
Now our idea of family grows broader and deeper.

00:03:04.792 --> 00:03:09.848
People we may not have considered before become brothers and sisters in Christ.

00:03:09.848 --> 00:03:16.105
We're united by something greater than ancestry or blood we're united by Jesus.

00:03:16.105 --> 00:03:23.581
So today I want you to embrace this bigger, resurrection-shaped view of family.

00:03:23.581 --> 00:03:27.793
Who can you welcome or love today as part of God's family?

00:03:27.793 --> 00:03:31.745
Pray with me, father.

00:03:31.745 --> 00:03:36.633
God, thank you for calling us your children through Jesus' resurrection.

00:03:36.633 --> 00:03:39.867
Help me to see others through your eyes.

00:03:39.867 --> 00:03:41.876
As part of my family in Christ, amen.

00:03:41.876 --> 00:03:43.199
As part of my family in Christ, amen.

00:03:43.199 --> 00:03:53.084
Well, that's all for today, but I'll be back tomorrow with more of God's Word.
