Day 115 New Bodies | 1 Corinthians 15:35-44

Send us a text

Have you ever wondered what will happen to your body after death? Today we dive deep into one of Christianity's most profound and hope-filled promises: the resurrection of the body.

Paul's teaching in 1 Corinthians 15:35-44 offers extraordinary insight into what awaits believers. Using the metaphor of seeds that must die before transforming into plants, Paul helps us understand the dramatic difference between our current bodies and our future resurrection bodies. Just as a tiny seed bears little resemblance to the magnificent plant it becomes, our resurrection bodies will be recognizably "us" yet transformed beyond imagination.

The passage describes our future bodies as imperishable, glorious, powerful, and spiritual – yet still physical in nature. This isn't science fiction; it's biblical promise. Think of how Jesus appeared to his disciples after his resurrection – eating, drinking, being touched – yet also transformed in mysterious ways. That's our preview of coming attractions! For anyone struggling with physical limitations, chronic illness, or simply the natural deterioration that comes with aging, this message offers profound comfort. Whatever physical challenges define your earthly experience now, they are temporary.

Take heart in knowing that God has designed an amazing future for your body. Listen daily for more biblical wisdom to refresh your spirit and strengthen your faith. 00:00:19.489 --> 00:00:21.019
Let's get started.

00:00:21.019 --> 00:00:24.896
Let's get started.

00:00:24.896 --> 00:00:32.954
Today is day 115, new Bodies from 1 Corinthians, chapter 15, verses 35 through 44, from the New Living Translation.

00:00:34.582 --> 00:00:37.731
But someone may ask how will the dead be raised?

00:00:37.731 --> 00:00:39.966
What kind of bodies will they have?

00:00:39.966 --> 00:00:42.225
What a foolish question.

00:00:42.225 --> 00:00:48.253
When you put a seed into the ground, it doesn't grow into a plant unless it dies first.

00:00:48.253 --> 00:00:55.790
And what you put in the ground is not the plant that will grow, but only a bare seed of wheat or whatever you're planting.

00:00:55.790 --> 00:00:59.369
Then God gives it a new body he wants it to have.

00:00:59.369 --> 00:01:02.768
A different plant grows from each kind of seed.

00:01:04.000 --> 00:01:12.652
Similarly, there are all different kinds of flesh One kind for humans, another for animals, another for birds and another for fish.

00:01:12.652 --> 00:01:16.870
There are also bodies in the heavens and bodies on the earth.

00:01:16.870 --> 00:01:21.430
The glory of the heavenly bodies is different from the glory of the earthly bodies.

00:01:21.430 --> 00:01:31.450
The sun has one kind of glory, while the moon and stars each have another kind, and even the stars differ from each other in their glory.

00:01:31.450 --> 00:01:34.724
It's the same with the resurrection of the dead.

00:01:34.724 --> 00:01:40.302
Our earthly bodies are planted in the ground when we die, but they will be raised to live forever.

00:01:40.302 --> 00:01:45.031
Our bodies are buried in brokenness, but they will be raised in glory.

00:01:45.031 --> 00:01:49.367
They are buried in weakness but they will be raised in strength.

00:01:49.367 --> 00:02:00.421
They are buried as natural human bodies, but they will be raised as spiritual bodies, for just as there are natural bodies, there are also spiritual bodies.

00:02:04.188 --> 00:02:08.061
Now, most of us would probably admit that there's something about our bodies we'd love to fix.

00:02:08.061 --> 00:02:14.533
Maybe it's an allergy, a sickness, maybe it's something we've struggled with our whole lives.

00:02:14.533 --> 00:02:24.063
None of our bodies are perfect, but if you're like me, you probably can't even imagine what having a perfect body would truly look like.

00:02:24.063 --> 00:02:31.562
As followers of Jesus, we believe something incredible there will be a resurrection of all believers.

00:02:31.562 --> 00:02:38.782
When Jesus returns, our bodies, imperfect and broken as they are, will be raised and transformed.

00:02:38.782 --> 00:02:48.509
We don't know exactly how it will happen, but we trust God's promise that our resurrected bodies will be perfect, whole and suited for eternity.

00:02:48.509 --> 00:03:00.002
Paul explains this beautifully when he describes our resurrection bodies as imperishable, glorious, powerful, new and spiritual, yet still physical.

00:03:00.002 --> 00:03:06.334
Imagine that Somehow, our new bodies will have all the best qualities of both worlds.

00:03:06.334 --> 00:03:12.106
Think how the risen Jesus appeared to his disciples, even sharing meals with them.

00:03:12.106 --> 00:03:17.012
That gives us a glimpse of the wonderful future God has planned for each of us.

00:03:17.012 --> 00:03:28.429
Today, I want you to live with hope, taking care of our bodies now, knowing that something truly amazing waits us in Christ.

00:03:28.429 --> 00:03:32.681
Pray with me, lord Jesus.

00:03:32.681 --> 00:03:39.051
Help me to honor you with my body today as I look forward to the amazing promise of resurrection.

00:03:39.051 --> 00:03:41.115
Life with you, amen.

00:03:41.115 --> 00:04:02.651
Well, that's all for today, but I'll be back tomorrow with more of God's Word Amen and consider becoming a community member.
