Day 116 Like Him | Romans 6:1-7

Day 116 Like Him | Romans 6:1-7

Send us a text

Our spiritual identity undergoes a complete transformation when we embrace Christ—yet so many of us continue living as though we're still bound by our old sinful nature. Romans 6:1-7 cuts straight to this disconnect, challenging us to recognize the revolutionary power of our baptism with Jesus.

Think about how illness makes us suddenly aware of our bodies—every ache reminds us what health feels like. Sin functions similarly in our spiritual lives, highlighting brokenness while making us crave healing. But here's where the comparison ends: while physical healing takes time, spiritual renewal through Christ is immediate and complete. When Jesus died and rose again, He didn't just offer us a future promise—He delivered present freedom.

The radical truth Paul presents is that we don't need to wait for deliverance someday. We've already "died to sin" through our identification with Christ's death, and we've already been "raised to life" through His resurrection. This isn't metaphorical language—it's describing a fundamental reality shift in who we are. The power of sin has been broken, and we can walk in newness of life today.

How will you live differently knowing you're already free? Will you continue returning to old patterns as though they still define you, or will you embrace the transformed identity Christ has already secured? Join us as we unpack this life-changing truth and discover what it means to live as people who are truly alive in Christ. Subscribe now and share this message with someone who needs to hear they're no longer bound by their past.

00:00:18.324 --> 00:00:19.929
Let's get started.

00:00:19.929 --> 00:00:23.280
And now Weekends with Lauren.

00:00:23.280 --> 00:00:26.346
And now Weekends with Lauren.

00:00:26.365 --> 00:00:36.023
Today is day 116, like him, we'll be in Romans, chapter 6, verses 1 through 7 from the New Living Translation.

00:00:36.023 --> 00:00:40.470
Well then, should we keep on sinning so that God can show us more and more of his wonderful grace?

00:00:40.470 --> 00:00:41.654
Of course not.

00:00:41.654 --> 00:00:47.723
Since we have died to sin, how can we continue to live in it?

00:00:47.723 --> 00:01:00.533
Or have you forgotten that when we were joined with Christ Jesus in baptism, we joined him in his death, for we died and were buried with Christ by baptism, and just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glorious power of the Father, now we also may live new lives.

00:01:00.533 --> 00:01:05.721
Since we have been united with him in his death, we will also be raised to life, as he was.

00:01:05.721 --> 00:01:11.882
We know that our old, sinful selves were crucified with Christ so that sin might lose its power in our lives.

00:01:11.882 --> 00:01:14.048
We are no longer slaves to sin.

00:01:14.048 --> 00:01:17.784
From when we died with Christ, we were set free from the power of sin.

00:01:19.769 --> 00:01:29.772
You know that feeling when you've got the flu or a bad cold and suddenly you're super aware of every part of your body, like wow, I didn't realize how good it feels to not ache everywhere.

00:01:29.772 --> 00:01:35.248
Sickness has this way of pointing out what's not working and it makes us crave healing.

00:01:35.248 --> 00:01:38.543
Sin does kind of the same thing to our hearts.

00:01:38.543 --> 00:01:43.722
It shows up in our thoughts, words and actions and it reminds us that something just isn't right.

00:01:43.722 --> 00:01:48.408
But here's the good news In Jesus, we don't have to stay stuck in that sickness.

00:01:48.408 --> 00:01:51.221
We're not just waiting around for healing someday.

00:01:51.221 --> 00:01:53.906
We're already being made new right now.

00:01:53.906 --> 00:02:03.162
When Jesus died, he took our sin with him, and when he rose again, he made it possible for us to rise too, not just in the future, but starting today.

00:02:03.162 --> 00:02:05.650
We've been raised to walk a new life.

00:02:05.650 --> 00:02:08.765
That means our old ways don't define us anymore.

00:02:08.765 --> 00:02:13.162
We're free to live with gratitude, joy and love because of what Jesus has done.

00:02:13.162 --> 00:02:20.062
So, man up or woman up, let's not act like we're still sick when the cure is already at work in us.

00:02:20.062 --> 00:02:22.044
We're not waiting for a better life.

00:02:22.044 --> 00:02:23.948
We're already living it in Christ.

00:02:23.948 --> 00:02:26.752
How will you live like you're made new today?

00:02:26.752 --> 00:02:29.921
Pray with me, jesus.

00:02:29.921 --> 00:02:32.669
Thank you for setting me free from sin and making me new.

00:02:32.669 --> 00:02:37.550
Help me to walk in this new life with joy and to show your love in everything I do.

00:02:37.550 --> 00:02:38.293
Amen.

00:02:38.293 --> 00:02:43.925
