What happens to our bodies after death? The question has intrigued humanity for centuries, and in today's meditation on 1 Corinthians 15:42-44, we explore the profound Christian answer: resurrection.

The COVID-19 pandemic delivered a harsh reminder of our physical fragility. Many of us experienced illness firsthand or lost loved ones, confronting the reality that our bodies are temporary, vulnerable vessels. The Apostle Paul acknowledges this truth without sugar-coating it—our current bodies are weak, perishable, and imperfect. We live with pain, disease, emotional struggles, and the inescapable certainty of death.

Yet through Jesus and His resurrection comes an extraordinary promise. One day, believers will receive new bodies that are imperishable, glorious, strong, and spiritual. This isn't merely about escaping pain or achieving comfort (though those blessings are included). It's about transformation into beings perfectly designed to reflect God's glory without limitation or hindrance. As Revelation describes, there will be no more death, sorrow, or pain—only the fullness of life in God's presence.

This resurrection hope isn't just about a distant future; it transforms our present perspective. When facing physical limitations, chronic illness, or aging, we can find comfort knowing our ultimate physical restoration is guaranteed in Christ. Our current struggles are temporary, not permanent. Today, let this hope shape your outlook and praise. God is making all things new, including you. Join us tomorrow for more wisdom from God's Word as we continue our daily journey through Scripture.

00:00:19.489 --> 00:00:21.019
Let's get started.

00:00:21.019 --> 00:00:24.716
Let's get started.

00:00:33.880 --> 00:00:34.881
Today is day 118, new Bodies.

00:00:34.881 --> 00:00:37.121
From 1 Corinthians, chapter 15, verses 42 through 44, from the New Living Translation.

00:00:37.121 --> 00:00:38.622
It is the same way with the resurrection of the dead.

00:00:38.622 --> 00:00:44.767
Our earthly bodies are planted in the ground when we die, but they will be raised to live forever.

00:00:44.767 --> 00:00:49.371
Our bodies are buried in brokenness, but they will be raised in glory.

00:00:49.371 --> 00:00:53.694
They are buried in weakness but they will be raised in strength.

00:00:53.694 --> 00:00:59.637
They are buried as natural human bodies but will be raised as spiritual bodies.

00:00:59.637 --> 00:01:08.162
For just as there are natural bodies, there are also spiritual bodies.

00:01:08.183 --> 00:01:16.131
Now, one strange side effect of all the precautions during the COVID-19 pandemic was that colds and flu didn't spread as much.

00:01:16.131 --> 00:01:21.495
With the people isolating and masking, some of the usual illnesses took a back seat.

00:01:21.495 --> 00:01:25.546
But COVID itself made a heavy impact.

00:01:25.546 --> 00:01:29.623
Many people got sick, many people lost loved ones.

00:01:29.623 --> 00:01:34.153
It reminded us just how fragile and temporary our bodies are.

00:01:34.153 --> 00:01:42.843
Now the Bible doesn't ignore that reality Our current bodies, paul says, are weak, perishable and imperfect.

00:01:43.665 --> 00:01:51.668
We live with pain and disease, emotional struggles, body image concerns and the inescapable truth of death.

00:01:51.668 --> 00:01:56.843
But through Jesus and his resurrection, we're promised something incredible.

00:01:56.843 --> 00:02:05.250
One day we will be raised with new, imperishable bodies glorious, strong and spiritual.

00:02:05.250 --> 00:02:09.703
Now, that promise is not just about feeling better someday.

00:02:09.703 --> 00:02:17.165
It's about being made new in a way that lets every part of us reflect the beauty and glory of God more fully.

00:02:17.165 --> 00:02:22.763
As Revelation described, there will be no more death or sorrow or pain.

00:02:22.763 --> 00:02:28.521
We'll live in the presence of God, fully alive, with nothing holding us back.

00:02:28.521 --> 00:02:42.824
The resurrection gives us hope for today and joy for what's to come, and, even more, it points us toward the bigger purpose to glorify God with our whole new being, now and forever.

00:02:42.824 --> 00:02:51.644
Today, let the hope of resurrection shape your perspective and your praise.

00:02:51.644 --> 00:02:55.411
God is making all things new, including you.

00:02:55.411 --> 00:02:59.521
Pray with me, dear Jesus.

00:02:59.521 --> 00:03:04.933
Thank you for the promise of new life, new bodies and a future without pain.

00:03:04.933 --> 00:03:10.305
You for the promise of new life, new bodies and a future without pain.

00:03:10.305 --> 00:03:15.054
Help me live today with hope that I may live my life and give glory to you, amen.

00:03:15.054 --> 00:03:22.013
Well, that's all for today, but I'll be back tomorrow with more of God's Word.
