00:00:02.564 --> 00:00:07.413
Welcome to Wisdom for the Day, your daily source for spiritual refreshment and guidance.
00:00:07.413 --> 00:00:08.734
I'm Rick.
00:00:08.734 --> 00:00:13.651
Join me as I dive into God's Word to find clarity and strength for life's challenges.
00:00:13.651 --> 00:00:19.466
Let me help you embrace each day with faith and wisdom, ready to feel inspired.
00:00:19.466 --> 00:00:21.065
Let's get started.
00:00:21.065 --> 00:00:25.646
Today is day 20.
00:00:25.646 --> 00:00:39.987
I forgot We'll be reading from the book of Isaiah, chapter 43, verses 18 and 19 from the New Living Translation Forget the former things, do not dwell on the past.
00:00:40.941 --> 00:00:42.426
See, I'm doing a new thing.
00:00:42.426 --> 00:00:46.508
Do you enjoy getting new things?
00:00:46.508 --> 00:00:48.064
A lot of us do.
00:00:48.064 --> 00:00:50.206
We just had Christmas.
00:00:50.206 --> 00:00:59.755
For kids, part of the thrill of opening presents at Christmas or on their birthday is the excitement of receiving something new.
00:00:59.755 --> 00:01:09.049
Adults, you know we feel the same way About new clothes, a new car, even the fresh smell of new carpet in our house.
00:01:09.049 --> 00:01:12.150
We all like new things.
00:01:13.322 --> 00:01:16.111
But sometimes we can get stuck in the past.
00:01:16.111 --> 00:01:26.180
Some of us might hold on to a nostalgic hope of returning to the good old days, while others of us might feel trapped by a past that we can't escape.
00:01:26.180 --> 00:01:40.813
Maybe it's the pain of growing up in a broken home, or regret over past sins or the sting of injustice that's been done to us, while Christians don't ignore the past.
00:01:40.813 --> 00:01:44.186
Faith in Christ challenges us to look forward.
00:01:44.186 --> 00:01:59.224
Our goal isn't just change for the sake of change, like the new things alone could give us hope or satisfaction, but instead Isaiah points us to the only one who brings lasting change.
00:01:59.224 --> 00:02:02.468
God says I am doing a new thing.
00:02:02.468 --> 00:02:10.411
Now we find true joy in letting go of our past when our future rests in the transformation that Christ brings.
00:02:10.411 --> 00:02:17.429
Because of the cross, we can forget our sinful past Philippians, chapter 3, 13 and 14.
00:02:17.429 --> 00:02:25.349
And we can move forward as new people in Christ Jesus, experiencing the joy and the hope that only he can give.
00:02:25.349 --> 00:02:33.091
Won't you pray with me, god, father, god of new beginnings?
00:02:33.091 --> 00:02:34.653
Thank you for a fresh start.
00:02:34.653 --> 00:02:38.947
Thank you for the fresh start that we have in Christ.
00:02:38.947 --> 00:02:43.022
Help us to leave behind our sin and to live joyfully.
00:02:43.022 --> 00:02:47.393
For him, in Jesus' precious name, we pray, amen.
00:02:47.393 --> 00:02:54.330
Well, that's all for today, but I'll be back tomorrow with more of God's Word.
