Send us a text

What if your true worth isn't determined by your skills or competencies, but by something far greater? Join me, Rick, on today's Wisdom for the Day, as we explore the profound message from 2 Corinthians 3:6. We'll unravel the liberating truth of being ministers of Christ's competence rather than our own. Reflect on how the Apostle Paul discovered his identity in the transformative power of Christ, and learn how to embrace your own inadequacies with confidence, knowing that God equips us with everything we need to share His hope and power with the world.

In our journey together, we’ll challenge the notion of self-worth based on personal skills and unravel how Christ’s victory over sin and death redefines our value. Let's face life's challenges with prayer and a renewed mindset, relying on our Savior's capabilities to meet the needs and struggles of those around us. Get ready to be inspired and uplifted as we navigate through spiritual insights that prepare us to engage with the world through faith and wisdom.

00:00:02.564 --> 00:00:07.413
Welcome to Wisdom for the Day, your daily source for spiritual refreshment and guidance.

00:00:07.413 --> 00:00:08.734
I'm Rick.

00:00:08.734 --> 00:00:13.651
Join me as I dive into God's Word to find clarity and strength for life's challenges.

00:00:13.651 --> 00:00:19.466
Let me help you embrace each day with faith and wisdom, ready to feel inspired.

00:00:19.466 --> 00:00:21.065
Let's get started.

00:00:21.065 --> 00:00:32.274
Today is Day 25, a new competence from 2 Corinthians 3, verse 6, from the New Living Translation.

00:00:32.274 --> 00:00:37.170
He has made us competent as ministers of a new covenant.

00:00:37.170 --> 00:00:42.130
Now I like to think I have a lot of competencies.

00:00:42.130 --> 00:00:47.287
I used to work a bread route, so I've picked up some knowledge about service and delivery.

00:00:47.287 --> 00:00:54.292
I also spend a lot of time with computers, so I know a bit about installing programs and protecting against viruses.

00:00:55.540 --> 00:00:58.527
It's easy to base our self-worth on what we're good at.

00:00:58.527 --> 00:01:05.811
When we excel in different areas, we feel confident, and when we don't, we tend to avoid those things.

00:01:05.811 --> 00:01:13.034
But as new creations in Christ, our worth isn't determined by our skills or competencies.

00:01:13.034 --> 00:01:16.786
It's rooted in his victory over sin and death.

00:01:16.786 --> 00:01:28.064
The Apostle Paul didn't measure himself by what others thought of him, but by the transformative work of Christ in his life and the lives of those he ministered to.

00:01:28.064 --> 00:01:33.302
The reality is there are plenty of things that we're not competent to do?

00:01:33.302 --> 00:01:35.769
I can't fix an airplane.

00:01:35.769 --> 00:01:39.840
I can't consistently make a basketball jump shot.

00:01:39.840 --> 00:01:44.664
My computer knowledge won't help me fix your technical problems.

00:01:46.004 --> 00:01:50.308
Many people feel the same way when it comes to teaching others about following Christ.

00:01:50.308 --> 00:01:55.772
We know how inadequate we are to offer hope to those who are struggling.

00:01:55.772 --> 00:02:02.516
It can be tempting to do nothing at all, but God equips His new creations with competence.

00:02:02.516 --> 00:02:09.962
We're ministers, not of our own abilities, but of Christ's power.

00:02:09.962 --> 00:02:13.871
We proclaim His competence, his worth, not our own.

00:02:13.871 --> 00:02:17.718
That is a liberating truth.

00:02:17.718 --> 00:02:21.324
Won't you pray with me, lord Jesus?

00:02:21.324 --> 00:02:28.753
Give us confidence, help us to face the needs and problems of those with the hope of our Savior's competence.

00:02:28.753 --> 00:02:35.842
In your name, lord Jesus, we pray, amen.

00:02:35.842 --> 00:02:43.483
Well, that's all for today, but I'll be back tomorrow with more of God's Word.
