00:00:02.564 --> 00:00:07.413
Welcome to Wisdom for the Day, your daily source for spiritual refreshment and guidance.

00:00:07.413 --> 00:00:08.734
I'm Rick.

00:00:08.734 --> 00:00:13.651
Join me as I dive into God's Word to find clarity and strength for life's challenges.

00:00:13.651 --> 00:00:19.466
Let me help you embrace each day with faith and wisdom, ready to feel inspired.

00:00:19.466 --> 00:00:21.065
Let's get started.

00:00:21.065 --> 00:00:33.832
Today is Day 27, a new name We'll be reading from Isaiah, chapter 62, verse 2, from the New Living Translation.

00:00:33.832 --> 00:00:42.121
You will be called by a new name that the mouth of the Lord will bestow Now.

00:00:42.121 --> 00:00:48.554
That passage is used a lot by counselors who go in for premarital counseling.

00:00:49.579 --> 00:00:57.692
Now, at first, isaiah's words might not seem to be about marriage, but they touch on themes that remind us of God's work within marriage.

00:00:57.692 --> 00:01:08.242
God unites a husband and wife to reflect his righteousness, to take joy in each other's love and to safeguard the peace of their home.

00:01:08.242 --> 00:01:11.549
Marriage transforms their identity.

00:01:11.549 --> 00:01:16.944
They're no longer just individuals, but one belonging to each other.

00:01:16.944 --> 00:01:23.763
Now, not everybody gets married, and even in good marriages, joy can sometimes feel distant.

00:01:23.763 --> 00:01:29.954
But at its best, marriage is a picture of the relationship between Christ and his people.

00:01:29.954 --> 00:01:35.813
Just as a husband and wife become one, jesus and his people are united.

00:01:35.813 --> 00:01:45.793
He takes on the sin and weakness that we bring into the relationship and in exchange we receive his righteousness and the joy of heaven.

00:01:45.793 --> 00:01:48.225
Now something new happens.

00:01:48.225 --> 00:01:52.248
When we're saved, god gives us a new name and a new identity.

00:01:52.248 --> 00:01:54.686
We're united with Christ.

00:01:55.819 --> 00:02:01.412
Isaiah describes God's delighting in his people, making it clear that we're precious to him.

00:02:01.412 --> 00:02:05.066
Christ doesn't just help us navigate this life.

00:02:05.066 --> 00:02:12.631
He offers the promise of eternal life, when his people will be the praise of the earth.

00:02:12.631 --> 00:02:21.592
Married couples continually learn what it means to be joined together and Christians grow in their relationship with Christ.

00:02:21.592 --> 00:02:25.729
I pray that you grow in that relationship this year.

00:02:25.729 --> 00:02:27.764
Won't you pray with me?

00:02:27.764 --> 00:02:31.628
Thank you, father, god, for delighting in us.

00:02:31.628 --> 00:02:42.008
Remind us of the new name that is ours by grace, and help us to rest in your unceasing work to make us objects of your praise.

00:02:42.008 --> 00:02:46.419
In Jesus' name we pray, amen.

00:02:46.419 --> 00:02:54.783
Well, that's all for today, but I'll be back tomorrow with more of God's Word.
