Let me help you embrace each day with faith and wisdom, Ready to feel inspired.
00:00:19.484 --> 00:00:21.070
Let's get started.
00:00:21.070 --> 00:00:29.794
Today is Day 35, East of Eden from Genesis, chapter 3, verse 24.
00:00:29.794 --> 00:00:36.372
God placed on the east side of the Garden of Eden cherubim and a flaming sword.
00:00:38.801 --> 00:00:40.728
What does it really mean to be miserable?
00:00:40.728 --> 00:00:47.850
Is misery defined by living in a squalid hut in a poor country?
00:00:47.850 --> 00:00:52.465
If that were the case, many of us would appear far from miserable.
00:00:52.465 --> 00:01:00.564
We drive new cars, we dine in nice restaurants, Some even take cruises to the Caribbean every year.
00:01:00.564 --> 00:01:07.716
Yet despite these comforts, none of them truly satisfies Deep inside.
00:01:07.716 --> 00:01:14.192
Regardless of where we live or what we have, we feel out of sync with life's true design.
00:01:15.816 --> 00:01:23.653
Now here's what's interesting the original word for misery means homesickness, and that captures our real issue.
00:01:23.653 --> 00:01:28.242
Our misery isn't because we lack worldly pleasures or entertainment.
00:01:28.242 --> 00:01:31.427
Our misery is that we're people without a home.
00:01:31.427 --> 00:01:36.724
We're cut off from our true home and deep down we long to return.
00:01:36.724 --> 00:01:44.266
We were meant to dwell with God in his garden, but we've been exiled to live east of Eden.
00:01:44.266 --> 00:01:48.174
Living east of Eden is not pleasant.
00:01:48.174 --> 00:01:53.129
It's a place full of thorns and thistles, and here we toil and labor.
00:01:53.129 --> 00:01:58.805
But despite our hard work, life's problems still suffocate our joy and satisfaction.
00:01:58.805 --> 00:02:04.614
Our deepest need is to return to the garden, to go home to God.
00:02:04.614 --> 00:02:11.521
The only way back is through Christ, our Savior.
00:02:11.521 --> 00:02:13.966
He reigns on God's throne right now.
00:02:15.087 --> 00:02:19.413
Ephesians 1, 20-23, Revelation 22, 3.
00:02:19.413 --> 00:02:25.060
He is the path that leads us home.
00:02:25.060 --> 00:02:27.002
Won't you pray with me, Lord?
00:02:27.002 --> 00:02:28.943
God, we desperately want to go home.
00:02:28.943 --> 00:02:33.189
By your spirit, make us citizens of your kingdom.
00:02:33.189 --> 00:02:44.973
Help us show each day our true commitment to Christ In his precious name, amen.
00:02:44.973 --> 00:02:52.538
