Together, we'll uncover the profound messages embedded in the parable of the prodigal son, where adventures in distant lands pale in comparison to the extravagant love waiting at home. It's a heartfelt reminder that no matter how far we've wandered, the embrace of unconditional love is always within reach.

Through prayer and reflection, we recognize that the path home is illuminated by the divine lights of forgiveness and acceptance. Be encouraged as we celebrate the joy of returning to God's family, where every journey back is a celebration of grace. Listen today for spiritual insights and inspiration, and let’s rekindle our spirits in the warmth of God's loving presence.

00:00:01.360 --> 00:00:06.192
Welcome to Wisdom for the Day, your daily source for spiritual refreshment and guidance.

00:00:06.192 --> 00:00:07.562
I'm Rick.

00:00:07.562 --> 00:00:12.452
Join me as I dive into God's Word to find clarity and strength for life's challenges.

00:00:12.452 --> 00:00:18.283
Let me help you embrace each day with faith and wisdom, ready to feel inspired.

00:00:18.283 --> 00:00:19.870
Let's get started.

00:00:19.870 --> 00:00:24.564
Today is Day 52,.

00:00:25.405 --> 00:00:41.023
Coming home from the Gospel of Luke, chapter 15, verse 18, from the New Living Translation, I will set out and go back to my father, gk Chesterton.

00:00:41.023 --> 00:00:49.625
He shared a story about an English sailor who, after miscalculating his course, believed he had discovered a new land in the South Seas.

00:00:49.625 --> 00:00:59.554
Ready to plant the British flag and claim the territory as New South Wales, he soon realized that he'd actually landed back in his homeland.

00:00:59.554 --> 00:01:09.391
In his search for something new, he had rediscovered the familiar and, for the first time, truly saw what he'd left behind.

00:01:09.391 --> 00:01:14.290
Jesus tells a similar story in the parable of the prodigal son.

00:01:14.290 --> 00:01:25.012
This young man eager for adventure and freedom set off to a distant country where he believed life would be filled with pleasures wine, women and song.

00:01:25.012 --> 00:01:29.891
It seemed far more appealing than the hard work of plowing his father's fields.

00:01:29.891 --> 00:01:33.310
But eventually the prodigal came to his senses.

00:01:33.310 --> 00:01:43.570
In returning home, he discovered something far greater than the fleeting pleasures of his journey, the overwhelming, forgiving love of his father.

00:01:43.570 --> 00:02:00.938
Now, interestingly, the word prodigal means lavish, and what we learn from this parable is that the father's love is even more prodigal, more extravagant, than the son's sin.

00:02:03.079 --> 00:02:07.849
God's children often return home only to realize that life in the father's house is what they've really been longing for the whole time.

00:02:07.849 --> 00:02:14.066
Now some of us may find ourselves in a distant country today, having wandered far from our spiritual home.

00:02:14.066 --> 00:02:16.953
We've sailed away from the shores of grace.

00:02:16.953 --> 00:02:27.034
But it's time to turn our ship around, and when we do, we find that our Heavenly Father's been waiting and watching for our return.

00:02:27.034 --> 00:02:32.010
The lights are on and he's calling us to come home.

00:02:32.010 --> 00:02:36.682
Pray with me, father, god.

00:02:36.682 --> 00:02:39.591
We know You're watching and waiting for us.

00:02:39.591 --> 00:02:43.169
Forgive us for wandering so far away.

00:02:43.169 --> 00:02:48.151
Thank you for calling and receiving us back again into your family.

00:02:48.151 --> 00:02:52.350
In Jesus' precious name I pray, amen.

00:02:52.350 --> 00:02:59.150
Well, that's all for today, but I'll be back tomorrow with more of God's Word.
