Are you feeling weary on your faith journey? You're not alone, and finding the strength to keep going is a challenge many face. In this episode, we dive deep into the powerful imagery presented in Hebrews 12:1, where the Christian life is framed as a race that requires endurance and a focused vision. We discuss how the spiritual path is not just about personal perseverance but also about running in front of a supportive community that encourages and uplifts one another.

By keeping our eyes on Jesus, we remind ourselves of the source of our strength and purpose. His example helps us navigate through life's hardships, reinforcing our resolve to move forward. Through this exploration, listeners will discover the profound support of the "great cloud of witnesses" that surrounds us, inspiring us to continue our journey despite the struggles encountered along the way. We also share insights on the importance of maintaining a spiritual focus, leaning on God's promises, and cultivating a resilient spirit.

Join us for an inspiring conversation that not only offers guidance for those feeling tired but also provides actionable insights for anyone looking to deepen their relationship with God. Be sure to subscribe, share, and leave a review to help others find this encouraging message!

00:00:02.564 --> 00:00:07.413
Welcome to Wisdom for the Day, your daily source for spiritual refreshment and guidance.

00:00:07.413 --> 00:00:08.734
I'm Rick.

00:00:08.734 --> 00:00:13.651
Join me as I dive into God's Word to find clarity and strength for life's challenges.

00:00:13.651 --> 00:00:19.466
Let me help you embrace each day with faith and wisdom, ready to feel inspired.

00:00:19.466 --> 00:00:21.019
Let's get started.

00:00:21.019 --> 00:00:26.176
Let's get started.

00:00:33.540 --> 00:00:37.978
Today is day 59, last mile from the book of Hebrews, chapter 12, verse 1, from the New Living Translation.

00:00:37.978 --> 00:00:42.704
Surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, lets us run with perseverance.

00:00:42.704 --> 00:00:52.682
I admire athletes who can maintain their composure under pressure, especially when performing in front of thousands of people.

00:00:52.682 --> 00:00:57.137
The thought of making a winning free throw in a championship game with the crowd roaring around you is almost unimaginable to me.

00:00:57.137 --> 00:01:06.641
While not all athletic events draw massive audiences, there's one race in which we all have an audience the race of Christian discipleship.

00:01:06.641 --> 00:01:15.727
As I run this race of faith, I know others are watching, but it's not just friends or neighbors, as the book of Hebrews describes.

00:01:15.727 --> 00:01:19.641
I'm running before a vast crowd of believers who've run this race before me.

00:01:19.641 --> 00:01:23.530
Now, this image from Hebrews isn't meant to intimidate us.

00:01:23.530 --> 00:01:25.313
It's meant to encourage us.

00:01:25.313 --> 00:01:35.909
Those who finished the race before us were given the spiritual stamina to cross the finish line, and so will we, but there are times when that's hard to believe.

00:01:36.861 --> 00:01:40.331
Some of us have been running this race for a long time and we're tired.

00:01:40.331 --> 00:01:47.733
We know God promises not to give us more than we can handle, but sometimes the challenges seem overwhelming.

00:01:47.733 --> 00:01:49.665
What keeps us going?

00:01:49.665 --> 00:01:52.427
Hebrews gives us the answer.

00:01:52.427 --> 00:01:54.787
Let's fix our eyes on Jesus.

00:01:54.787 --> 00:02:03.394
Just like a runner keeps their focus on the finish line, we have to keep our eyes on Jesus, who is both the source and the goal of our faith.

00:02:03.394 --> 00:02:07.049
He knows our struggles and he's with us in every step.

00:02:07.049 --> 00:02:12.171
Be assured that your Savior will provide the daily strength you need to keep running.

00:02:12.171 --> 00:02:16.528
As you fix your eyes on him, he'll carry you through to the end.

00:02:16.528 --> 00:02:25.514
Pray with me, father God, forgetting what's behind us and straining towards what's ahead of us.

00:02:25.514 --> 00:02:28.347
We're pressing towards the goal.

00:02:28.347 --> 00:02:32.604
That's what you've called us for and we look towards heaven.

00:02:32.604 --> 00:02:36.112
For Christ in his name, amen.

00:02:36.112 --> 00:02:43.729
Well, that's all for today, but I'll be back tomorrow with more of God's Word.
