Day 95 Serving Like Jesus | Mark 10:41-45

Day 95 Serving Like Jesus | Mark 10:41-45

Send us a text

What does true leadership look like through the eyes of Jesus? The answer might surprise you.

Our weekend reflection explores Jesus's revolutionary teaching on leadership from Mark 10:42-45, where He challenges the conventional power dynamics we often witness in the world. When leaders around us flaunt their authority and control others, Jesus boldly declares, "But among you it will be different."

The radical concept Jesus presents turns leadership on its head – the greatest leaders must become servants, and those who want to be first must become "the slave of everyone else." This isn't merely a nice suggestion; it's a fundamental reorientation of how we should view influence and authority in every relationship.

I explore how this principle applies to our everyday relationships as friends, family members, colleagues, and community participants. The tendency to control situations or push for our own way runs counter to Jesus's example, who "came not to be served but to serve others and to give his life as a ransom for many." His ultimate sacrifice represents the purest form of the servant leadership He calls us to embody.

This weekend, consider how you might practically serve someone in your life. Whether through attentive listening, offering practical help, or simply being present for someone in need, each small act of service reflects the heart of Christ and builds the kind of community Jesus envisions. Join me as we learn together how to put love into action through service to others.

Join me as I dive into God's Word to find clarity and strength for life's challenges.

00:00:12.512 --> 00:00:18.324
Let me help you embrace each day with faith and wisdom, Ready to feel inspired.

00:00:18.324 --> 00:00:19.929
Let's get started.

00:00:19.929 --> 00:00:21.763
And now.

00:00:21.763 --> 00:00:23.388
Weekends with Lauren.

00:00:38.515 --> 00:00:39.295
And now Weekends with Lauren.

00:00:39.295 --> 00:00:47.539
So Jesus called them together and said you know that the rulers in this world lorded over their people, and officials flaunt their authority over those under them.

00:00:47.539 --> 00:00:49.646
But among you it will be different.

00:00:49.646 --> 00:00:56.430
Whoever wants to be a leader among you must be your servant, and whoever wants to be first among you must be the slave of everyone else.

00:00:56.430 --> 00:01:04.462
For even the Son of man came not to be served but to serve others and to give his life as a ransom for many man.

00:01:04.462 --> 00:01:05.465
I love that.

00:01:05.465 --> 00:01:08.307
Welcome to Weekends with Lauren.

00:01:09.459 --> 00:01:15.914
Have you ever noticed how some people with power or influence like to push others around or control things to benefit themselves?

00:01:15.914 --> 00:01:18.968
Jesus noticed this too, and he called it out clearly.

00:01:18.968 --> 00:01:22.549
He said that, as his followers, we need to do things differently.

00:01:22.549 --> 00:01:32.182
Instead of seeking power or status, jesus invites us to become servants.

00:01:32.182 --> 00:01:34.206
That means putting others first, just like he did, he didn't come expecting to be served.

00:01:34.206 --> 00:01:38.805
Instead, he dedicated himself to serving and loving others, even to the point of giving up his life for us.

00:01:39.909 --> 00:01:45.751
Think about your relationships for a minute, whether you're a friend, daughter, parent, teacher or church member.

00:01:45.751 --> 00:01:55.531
It's so easy to slip into trying to control things or push for your own way, but Jesus shows us a better way serving others and helping them grow closer to God.

00:01:55.531 --> 00:01:59.450
Today, think about ways you can serve and encourage someone around you.

00:01:59.450 --> 00:02:04.849
Maybe it's offering help or listening carefully or simply being there for someone who needs you.

00:02:04.849 --> 00:02:07.781
Let's pray, jesus.

00:02:07.781 --> 00:02:12.609
Help me be more like you every day, someone who serves others and puts love into action.

00:02:12.609 --> 00:02:16.209
Show me practical ways I can reflect your heart in my daily life.

00:02:16.209 --> 00:02:17.072
Amen.

00:02:17.072 --> 00:02:21.324
That's all for now.

00:02:21.324 --> 00:02:25.210
