Day 98 What a Request | Mark 10:49-52

What would you ask for if Jesus stopped everything and asked, "What do you want me to do for you?" Would your request reflect your immediate struggles or something deeply transformative?
Day 98 of our journey takes us back to the powerful story of Bartimaeus in Mark 10:49-52. When Jesus calls this blind beggar forward, Bartimaeus doesn't hesitate – he throws aside his coat, jumps up, and approaches Jesus with remarkable boldness. Rather than requesting money or temporary assistance (which would have been perfectly reasonable given his circumstances), Bartimaeus asks for complete transformation: "I want to see."
The question Jesus poses invites radical honesty about our deepest needs. Many of us approach God with surface-level requests, forgetting we're speaking to the One who can completely transform our lives. Bartimaeus recognized Jesus not just as a traveling teacher but as the promised Messiah capable of miraculous restoration. His faith was rewarded with immediate sight, followed by a life-altering decision to follow Jesus down the road.
Today's reflection challenges us to examine what we truly seek in our relationship with God. Are we settling for small requests when transformational healing is available? Do we recognize who we're talking to when we pray? Jesus still asks each of us, "What do you want me to do for you?" – and waits for our bold, faithful response. Join us as we learn to approach God with both honesty about our deepest needs and faith in His power to completely transform our lives.
